Mastercam and Unigraphics/NX Data Exchange
Mastercam users can open native Unigraphics/NX part or assembly files without a Unigraphics/NX license requirement using UG Read. With UG Read, you also gain the unique ability to import Product Manufacturing Information data, such as properties, datums, dimensions, notes, geometric tolerances, and datum targets.

A Better Alternative to Chasing Variability with CAM Software
A study performed by IQL (Independent Quality Laboratory, Rockville, RI) shows that the volumetric positioning accuracy of a popular, moderately priced machine tool can be improved by a factor of 2:1 versus the same machine that was purchased and installed to the manufacturer’s standard specifications. This makes it unnecessary to use CAM software to compensate for dimensional variability within the machine’s measuring envelope.

Mastercam Helps Ensure CAD/CAM Expertise With New Certification Program
CNC Software announces its new Certification program that gives a way for today’s programmers to sharpen and validate their skills. A Certification Advisory Committee, along with the help of several school advisory committees, defined the skills necessary for CNC operators and programmers and approved the Mastercam Handbook Curriculum as the first recommended curriculum. It is meant to be taught in 80 to 100 hours of instruction and can be used to produce programmers who can pass a practical Certification test.
