Mastercam Showcasing New Major Release at IWF 2008
IWF 2008 features the unveiling of a major development in CNC Software’s Mastercam CAD/CAM software. Attendees will get a first look at Mastercam’s new Feature Based Machining (FBM), as well as the Mastercam Router X3 release. Mastercam X3 will be showcased in booth # 4413 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA, August 20-22.

TrueShape Nesting
Mastercam Router X3 now includes TrueShape Nesting as a standard feature. TrueShape Nesting optimizes your material use for greatest yields and an improved bottom line. Users can efficiently nest interlocking parts with a variety of options including:
- Custom sheet definition
- Maintain grain direction of any part
- “Filler” part nesting to reduce waste
- Full control over part spacing and sheet margins

Mastercam Router X3 now includes Engraving as a standard feature. Mastercam’s Engraving gives you the effect of classic hand-carved art using your CNC machine. Sharp inside corners give the finished piece a crisp edge that is unattainable with conventional machining. Mastercam’s Engraving gives you a wide variety of choices like:
- - Standard “chiseling”
- - Embossed images
- - Easily engrave any TrueType font
- - Engrave remachining allows you to cut an area with a large tool and automatically remove remaining material with a smaller tool
- - Use constant volume depth cuts for more consistent tool load

Feature Based Machining (FBM)
Mastercam’s new Feature Based Machining automates the machining process. This offers shops dramatic speed improvements and allows for great reductions in programming time. Mastercam’s FBM will automatically evaluate a solid part and program pockets, contours, bosses, and drilling routines with minimal user input. New users to Mastercam will be machining 2D solid parts sooner, thanks to FBM's ease of use and short learning curve.
